Water Characteristics Influence on Green Hydrogen Production

Hydrogen is the most promising and universal fuel and energy carrier, the use of which will become widespread in the future. An investigation about the rate of hydrogen production is led in this work by the use of electrolysis method. Two main parameters have been considered for the purpose: the electrodes nature and shape and the water properties. Hence, an alkaline type electrolyzer has been achieved in laboratory and tested with three water solution types. The obtained results show the importance of the investigated parameters leading to energy consumption efficiency better than some industrial electrolyzers. The whole system shows sustainable production from unlimited source and environmental process.
