Real-Time YOLOv7 Based Smart Light Control System

There exists a necessity and potential for the regulation of power consumption by various appliances such as fans, lights, and other electrical devices within both residential and large communal spaces. Numerous electrical devices consume excessive energy when left switched on without human presence or any specific requirement for their operation. In order to mitigate our carbon footprint, a smart system has been devised which identifies the presence of individuals within a predetermined area and automatically switches the respective devices on or off. This system employs a you only look once (YOLO) neural network model to detect human presence and subsequently relays the signal to a micro-controller device, which then activates mechanical relays to control the power supply. Furthermore, this setup can be conveniently integrated into any AC circuit within various environmental settings.
