Role of Technology for Credit Risk Management: A Bibliometric Review

Technology has disrupted processes and dynamics of the market. Banking sector and financial institutions are struggling to manage the nonperforming assets. Willful default cases have become a concern. This paper examines the role of technology in credit risk management. Bibliometric analysis was done on Scopus database. The visualization was done using VOS viewer version 1.6.19. 86 documents were obtained in Scopus database. Credit management using technology has attracted the attention of researchers. 46% documents have been published between 2019 and 2022. Fintech credit appraisal, credit default learning algorithms and efficiency of credit assessment using technology emerged as the major research themes. Adoption of blockchain and AI for credit risk assessment eliminates the subjective human bias and brings transparency in credit management.
