Dynamic Performance Optimization Based on Busbar Current and Field Current Prediction for Doubly Salient Electromagnetic Generator

For the purpose of optimizing dynamic performance and speeding up the dynamic process while the load changes, a busbar voltage regulation method is proposed for the doubly salient electromagnetic generator (DSEG) system. The proposed method adopts busbar current instead of busbar voltage act as the objective of the outer loop control. The conduction pattern of the asymmetric H-bridge analyzed, and the relationship between duty cycle and field current is acquired through the mathematically-fitted parameters. Based on the above, the field current prediction model is built as the inner loop. A comparative analysis is conducted to evaluate the performance of the busbar voltage between the proposed method and the conventional control method. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing busbar voltage variation on the 12/8-pole DESG system. The proposed method improves dynamic performance during load changes, resulting in accelerated conversion processes and reduced dynamic time. It also exhibits good transient and steady-state characteristics within a broad range of load current. Moreover, it can also broaden the application scenarios of DSEG.
