Design Consideration of Bearingless Doubly Salient Electromagnetic Motor

In order to exploiting the potential of existing 12/8 bearingless doubly salient electromagnetic (BDSEM) motor, the impact of structural parameters such as air-gap length and diameter of stator inner on suspension force should be investigated. In this paper, the motor structure and mechanism for suspending force are briefly introduced firstly. Second, the impact of the air-gap length on suspension force is analyzed by finite element method. In addition, the extreme-point of average suspension force is taken into account. Third, under the condition of the basic restrictions equation, the influence of stator inner diameter is analyzed.
