A Fault-Tolerant FOC Strategy for Segmented Powered Dual Three-Phase PMLSM

A fault-tolerant field-oriented control (FOC) control strategy is proposed for segmented powered dual three-phase permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM). It is aiming at the maximum force per ampere for two-phase open-circuit faults at the same neutral point or different neutral points. First, when a double-phase open-circuit fault occurs, the motor operation mode changes from double neutral point mode to single neutral point mode in the circuit topology of the segmented power supply system. The degradation coordinate transformation matrix is constructed, and the motor’s decoupling mathematical model is obtained basing on the principle that the fundamental EMF keeps motion after an open circuit fault. The current in the new coordinate system is optimized to achieve the maximum force per rated phase current. Synchronous frame resonant controllers are used to achieve current tracking. Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation is used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant control strategy.
