Sum-Rate Maximization in Beyond 5G Systems with Limited NTN Backhaul

With the technological advance of fifth generation (5G) mobile networks and the need to increase coverage for this system, it has driven researchers and industry in the search for alternatives for the integration of current mobile networks with the legacy system. At this point non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) arises as a promising technology since geostationary earth orbit (GEO) and low earth orbit (LEO) satellites can provide connectivity in remote regions, on the high seas and even in natural disaster situations. In this context, we investigate the sum-rate problem subject to limited NTN backhaul capacity. Due to problem is nonlinear, we convert it to an integer linear programming (ILP), where the optimal solution can be obtained by standard techniques. The results obtained through simulations show that the proposed solution achieve a higher data rate using less power than the solution using equal power allocation (EPA).
