Optimum Design of Self-Starting Capability for Two-Phase Double Stator Switched Reluctance Motor

To enhance the self-starting capability of two-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM), a double-stator magnetic pole deflection SRM is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the topology and operation principle are explained. A self-starting strategy for rotor tooth offset is presented, and the impact of structural parameters on the self-starting performance is investigated employing the finite element method. Finally, a prototype is fabricated and compared with other two-phase SRM structures, including the ratio of overlapping region and starting torque. The simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of proposed self-starting technique and the superiority of the proposed structure.
