Advance Phase Changing Control of the Doubly Salient Electromagnetic Generator Based on the Half-controlled Rectifier

Aiming to improve the output performance of the doubly salient electromagnetic generator, an advance phase changing control (APCC) method based on the half-controlled rectifier is proposed. The difference between the half-controlled rectifiers with upper bridge arm and lower bridge arm with different control methods is obtained through modal analysis. The standard angular position control method lifts the phase current at the beginning of the phase change process, and slows down the rate of current reduction in the freewheeling process indirectly. To accelerate the phase change process, the upper bridge arm half-controlled rectifier is selected to realize the proposed method. The switches are turned on in advance, and the phase change process is faster. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulations and experiments. The simulation result shows that the proposed method can effectively reduce the field current and enhance the phase current. Compared to the angular position control method, it can more effectively suppress the copper loss. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method can effectively improve efficiency and reduce excitation power.
