Quench Detection Analysis of YBCO Coated Conductor Based on Temperature Slope Method

In this paper, a model of YBCO coated conductor is established by COMSOL to simulate different cases of quench process, which includes typical run-away process, recovery process and run-away after insufficient recovery process, respectively. And the causes of these three types of quench process are analyzed. Aiming at the quench caused by instantaneous disturbance, a new quench detection method based on the temperature slope is proposed to achieve quick detection precisely. The simulation results show that the proposed method can distinguish the three states of the YBCO coated conductor and detect quench in advance in the case of run-away after insufficient recovery process.
