Small-Signal Impedance Modeling and Analysis of Doubly Salient Brushless DC Generator for More Electric Aircraft

The doubly salient electromagnetic generator (DSEG) is a promising candidate for the High voltage dc (HVDC) power system with robust configuration. With the continuously increasing number of constant power loads (CPLs), whose characteristics of negative resistance destabilize the system stability, it is necessary to analyze the stability of the DSEG power system. In this paper, an impedance model of a DSEG as a source with constant power loads is derived. The impedance model of the DSEG considering its nonlinear characteristic is derived. The accuracy of the proposed model is validated and the small-signal stability of the system is analyzed and verified by simulation.
