Design, Analysis and Testing of a Permanent Magnet Motor With Segmented Rotor for Reducing Electromagnetic Vibration

Although the segmented rotor has gained popularity as an effective industrial approach for mitigating electromagnetic vibration in PM motors, there remains a lack of comprehensive analysis regarding its mechanism and regularity. Therefore, this article investigates the electromagnetic vibration of a segmented rotor motor, focusing on the exciting force wave and torque ripple. The spatiotemporal characteristics of exciting force waves are calculated by the Maxwell stress tensor method and two-dimensional Fourier decomposition method. The torque ripple is analytically derived to elucidate the principles for reducing torque ripple. In addition, the structural design and performance verification of the rotor segmented motor are completed through harmonic response analysis, finite element analysis, and prototype testing. The proposed calculation method and analysis process also have significant reference value for the vibration analysis and vibration reduction design of other motors.
