Pulse Control of Actively Q-switched Random Fiber Laser

This paper experimentally investigates the influence of pump power, injection power and modulation frequency on the pulse of an actively Q-modulated laser. The number of pulses increases with increasing pump power in both the presence and absence of injection. The pulse amplitude decreases as the injection power increases and pulse disappears when the injection power increases to 14dBm. As the modulation frequency decreases, the number of pulses increases. The number of pulses and the dark pulses can be adjusted by varying the pump power, the injection power and the modulation frequency, which has potential for applications in secure communications and remote sensing and ranging.
