Integrating Time Study and Discrete Event Simulation to Evaluate Manpower Planning

In the context of a service company, the implementation of an optimal manpower planning strategy is paramount to ensure smooth and effective operations. To this end, the present research paper leverages the techniques of time study and discrete event simulation to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the workload borne by recruiters in an outsourcing company. The primary objective of this study is to gauge the standard time required for critical tasks such as curriculum vitae (CV) screening and interviews, subsequently utilizing the simulation model to scrutinize the utilization of the existing manpower planning strategy. Through the implementation of the simulation model, we are able to predict the amount of time needed for the company to complete a project, given particular parameters. The findings suggest that the bottleneck in the recruitment process of the company is in the sourcing process. It is recommended that the company strategically attract high-quality applicants instead of accepting any random applicants. This approach can help reduce operational costs associated with processing low-quality applicants, minimize delays in project completion, and improve overall efficiency.
