Fatigue Life Prediction of Carbon Fiber Composite Laminates via Progressive Damage Model

Carbon fiber composite materials are anisotropy, and the damage caused by loads on the material is not a single form. Analyzing damage accumulation and determining failure modes are of great significance for predicting the life of components. A progressive damage model is established based on the failure modes of carbon fiber composite laminates and it is able to predict fatigue life in combination with stiffness degradation. Compared with the experimental results, the life prediction error of this model is within an acceptable range.
