Intrusion Detection Method Based on Network Performance Degradation

In modern wireless networks, there are intrusions that are difficult to detect using traditional surveillance based approaches. Despite the degradation of the quality of service, the statistical characteristics of the traffic may not differ from the normal situation. However, such intrusions can be identified by analyzing the nature of the change in user access to channels. Random fluctuations can lead to false alarms, the number of those cases is desirable to minimize. This paper discusses intelligent methods based on statistical sequential analysis for detecting attacks such as spectrum sensing data falsification, reactive jamming etc. Thus, we use a method of analyzing data in a step-by-step fashion, where data is collected and analyzed incrementally as it becomes available. The advantage of the proposed method is that it does not require heavy calculations and can be adapted to various practical situations. The results of an experimental study are also presented. The presented results contribute to the timely and effective detection of various intrusions.
