The Influence of Meteorological Conditions on the Polarization Properties of Radio Waves in the 3-Centimeter Range

The paper analyzes the influence of meteorological conditions, such as rain, snow, fog, on the polarization properties of a pulsed radio signal with a carrier frequency of 9 GHz. As polarization properties, we considered the orientation angel and the angle of ellipticity of the polarized signal, correlation coefficient of amplitudes and phase difference of orthogonally polarized signals. The studies were carried out on a line-of-sight terrestrial route 8 km long. Dependences of the polarization properties of signals on meteorological conditions are obtained and conclusions are made.
