Connectivity of Agricultural Soil Fertility Online Monitoring Devices with Smartphones

Rice yields are highly dependent on the level of soil fertility in agricultural areas. This condition is also supported because there are no pests that attack rice plants. In addition, the level of soil fertility determines the amount of rice yields for farmers. The level of soil fertility is influenced by several factors such as soil pH level, soil temperature, and soil moisture. Weather that often changes can cause the level of soil fertility to also fluctuate. The level of soil fertility can be better or worse than the previous condition. Excessive solar heat can cause the soil to dry out and the soil temperature to increase so that the level of soil fertility decreases. When it rains, the soil moisture level increases, the soil temperature decreases, and the soil pH decreases. Therefore, we need a device that can monitor the level of soil fertility online and based on the Internet of Things (IoT) during real time weather conditions. The device is equipped with a pH sensor, temperature sensor, and soil moisture sensor. The sensors are connected to a microprocessor to process the measurement data. In the process of sending data, additional equipment is needed to connect the microcontroller to the internet network, so that the data that has been processed by the microprocessor can be sent to the smartphone. The smartphone displays information about the level of soil fertility, soil temperature, soil pH, and soil moisture levels in real time. The online monitoring device has been successfully tested and can help farmers to find out the real-time condition of their agricultural land accurately and quickly.
