Backend Quality Analysis For I/O Pad

The design and integration of input/output (I/O) pads are pivotal in bridging the gap between the external world and digital integrated circuits. As semiconductor technologies advance, I/O pads play a crucial role in ensuring reliable data transfer, signal integrity, and protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD). This paper presents a comprehensive study on the Backend quality analysis of I/O pad libraries. By examining the different backend views namely layout, schematics and symbols the essential characteristics that define a high-quality I/O pad library are unveiled. The investigation encompasses in-depth analyses of various aspects, of layout practises with respect to I/O. We explore the challenges of designing I/O pads that meet stringent per-formance requirements while adhering to manufacturing con-straints. Through rigorous DRC and LVS runs on the layouts the different quality checks are identified and considered for the library release. Furthermore, this paper discusses the quality checks that are essential for the symbols and schematics. By shedding light on the intricacies of quality analysis for I/O pad libraries, this work aims to empower semiconductor designers with the tools and knowledge needed to create robust and reliable I/O interfaces.
