Development and Implementation of File Security Using Raspberry pi with an Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Algorithm

The aim of this study is to develop a secure file transfer solution for local area networks (LANs) using a Raspberry Pi 4 and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm. The system is designed to address the common security issue faced by institutions where clients must transfer files over a network while maintaining confidentiality. The researchers implemented a duplicate server system using the Raspberry Pi 4 and a WIFI router to store and manage files uploaded by clients. The AES algorithm was utilized to encrypt all files uploaded to the system to ensure data security. The solution is also user-friendly and includes a web page interface for administrators to manage user access. The researchers conducted a series of experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solution. Results indicate that the same server system and AES encryption effectively secure files in a LAN environment. Files uploaded through the system can only be accessed by the correct user account, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity. Even if the admin can view the user account, they cannot open the file since it is encrypted. The researchers also measured the system's file transfer speed performance and found it comparable to traditional LAN file transfer methods. The study demonstrates how encryption can be used to address security risks faced by institutions and other organizations. The researchers recommend that further studies be conducted to evaluate the system's scalability and performance in large-scale LAN environments.
