A Fast Noise Suppression Method for Synchrophasor Measurement In Distribution Networks

To improve the operation security and stability of the distribution systems, distribution-level synchrophasor measurement technologies have been developed rapidly. According to the preliminary investigation of field signals measured from distribution systems, the signals are heavily contaminated by noise, especially the impulsive noise, which will degrade the data quality of synchrophasor measurement. So this paper proposes a noise suppression method for synchrophasor measurement based on the fixed-weights robust local regression smoothing enhanced moving median filter and coordinated with the moving averaging filter. In addition, the additive distortion introduced by moving median filter is compensated. Then the noise suppression effectiveness of the proposed filtering and compensation method is validated using numerical simulation tests with heavily noisy signals. Furthermore, the computational burden is also validated.
