Renewable Energy Short Circuit Ratio Prediction Considering the Renewable Power Area-Based Influence

Among multiple stability-related indexes, the short-circuit ratio (SCR) directly quantifies the power system voltage support strength with worldwide comprehensive industrial utilization. State-of-the-art SCR calculations confront a bottleneck in cooperating with uncertain wind or solar irradiance. The modified renewable energy short-circuit ratio (RESCR) is a newly constructed index suitable for renewables. Considering the demand of power control center operators, we have explored and constructed a long short-term memory (LSTM) algorithm-based RESCR prediction model. The proposed method provides an ahead-of-current trend signal for operators to make in-time decisions. The proposed prediction model can utilize and extract the nearby RESCRs and renewable energy station output power (RESP) characteristics and offers RESCR predictions even with indirect neighboring RESP data. The feasibility and effectivity of this cross-parameter RESCR-RESP prediction illustrate with the actual industrial data (northern China power grid utility), which proves the proposed prediction model is a promising structure for future exploration.
