Research and Design of Laser Auto-collimation System

Semiconductor lasers have the advantages of small size, lightweight, high reliability, long service life, and low power consumption, and they are widely used in many fields. The semiconductor laser has a large divergence angle and needs to be collimated by a lens before it can be used as a laser radar light source. In the actual production process, the adjustment and assembly of the collimator are usually made manually, and the accuracy and efficiency are relatively low. According to the manufacturing requirements of lidar, this paper designs a laser automatic alignment system based on vision. Its advantage is that it compresses the workspace required for alignment according to the principle of spot transformation and automatically adjusts it by combining image processing methods and search algorithms. The system uses a near-infrared industrial camera to collect light spots, completes image processing on the NVIDIA development board, generates control signals, and drives the electric translation stage through the controller. The system can precisely adjust the laser diodes position and realize the lasers automatic alignment. After experimental verification, the alignment accuracy of the system is about 1mrad.
