Mobile App to improve the tourist experience by using Multilayer Perceptron Network and Collaborative Filtering

This article presents a research project of a mobile app design and implementation based on AI (Artificial Intelligence) to improve the users’ tourists experience with the help of a virtual assistant which will be able to recommend and give real, quick and timely information. This innovation will be able to happen by using Neural Network.According to a report issued by the Export and Tourism Promoting Commission of Peru (PROMPERU), the scarce existence of technological platforms in the tourism area does not let tourists know the diversity in cultures raised and still preserved in different parts of the country. This may be occurring due to either lack of information or promoting activities.Therefore, the project brings out structured information and the possibility of finding tourist places quickly. For which, the User Test tool of the Design Thinking Method has been applied in order to obtain usability validation, which allows to see how the developed product actually works.To determine its effectiveness, a group of national tourists had been evaluated using the app, regarding their level of satisfaction. Having as results that 92,5% of tourists thought the app is easy to use, and 91,7% of them agreed on getting a better tourist experience. In consequence, the innovative app shows 98, 35% of the target group retention; which indicates potential high level of loyalty.
