Development and Validation of a Numerical Model for Miniature Electrochemical Oxygen Sensors

In this study, a numerical simulation model was developed in COMSOL 6.0 and applied to a miniature electrochemical oxygen sensor. The purpose of this simulation is to explore the effects of diffusion overlap in microelectrode arrays. The simulation results were validated against experimental measurements. Model parameters were optimized by minimization of differences between the model and experimental data, and application of a geometric correction for finite arrays. The model exhibits expected behaviors for a microelectrode array, so it will be used to further refine the sensor design.
