Novel Substrate-Integrated Coaxial Line Phase Inverter and Magic-T

This letter presents a novel phase inverter (PI) design and its application in a magic-T based on substrate-integrated coaxial lines (SICLs). The novel SICL PI and its derivative magic-T are proposed for the first time. A transition between the feeding SMA and the SICL is also developed for measurement purposes. The proposed SICL PI is measured to have a fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 92.3% with its phase deviation (PD) less than 15°. The applied magic-T achieves a measured FBW of 67% under the amplitude and phase imbalances less than 1 dB and 15°, respectively. Experiments are conducted, and good agreements between the measured and simulated data are observed.
