Effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Research Activities in the Laboratory: Changes in the Initial Education Program and Meeting Style

This paper introduces the initial education program for newcomers in our laboratory and its history, aiming to adapt to the situation and improve cost performance. The program has been updated annually based on the outcomes of previous years. The paper also presents the working-time history of students’ research activities and the style of laboratory meetings. The survey results highlight the negative impact of the pandemic, which became evident one year after its onset when certain restrictions were relaxed. Additionally, the paper demonstrates the significant positive effect of face-to-face meetings on enhancing research activities and educational outcomes for students in the laboratory.
