Experimental Research of Induction Short Circuit Current Limiting Method

In the article the induction short circuit current limiting method of solving a problem of fault current is considered. The constructive scheme of induction short circuit current limiter with a movable electromagnet armature is considered. The peculiarities of operating of such device at occurrence of short circuit are considered. The mathematic model of induction short circuit current limiter with magnetic circuit is carried out. To take into account the nonlinear properties of the volt-ampere characteristic when using a ferromagnetic core, which is related to the magnetization curve of steel, an experimental research of magnetization is proposed. In addition, with the air gap application, the magnetic system of the current limiter has a variable in a certain range magnetic reluctance, which can affect on the reactance of the winding accordingly. Correlating with the experimental data, mathematical reproduction of the magnetic system in the mathematical package Finite Element Method Magnetics is offered for the analysis of the magnetic field with certain assumptions, and, accordingly, the volt-ampere characteristics and traction forces.
