Efficiency of the Floating Power Plant with of Fuel Thermochemical Treatment

The main aim of the research is an analysis of characteristics of advanced floating power plants with the thermochemical regeneration of waste heat. The power plant was investigated by methods of mathematical modeling. The influence of water cost and water/fuel ratio on the efficiency of a floating power plant with thermochemical fuel treatment was researched. The calculation scheme of combined plant with the fuel thermochemical treatment is demonstrated. The results of mathematical simulation of the processes in power plant under the 35.7 MW.The plant consists of: Siemens SGT 400 gas turbine engine, two Wartsila12V50DF internal combustion engines and two utilization-type desalination units. The characteristics of gas turbine engines, internal combustion engines, subsystems of thermochemical treatment were determined separately. The component models were connected by the links in the form of material and energy flows. Mathematical models of the gas-turbine engine, the recovery circuit, and the thermochemical fuel treatment unit were created using the Aspen Plus physicochemical process modeling system. Workflows in the ICE were modeled using the software package CHEMKIN. It is determined that for gaseous hydrocarbon fuels with the ratio of the cost of water to the cost of fuel more than 0.1, the increase in efficiency does not exceed 1.
