A Self-Adaptive Parameter Tuning Approach for Active Damping of Third-Harmonic Injection Two-Stage Matrix Converter

Active damping methods can improve the input- side stability of the third-harmonic injection two-stage matrix converter (3TSMC). However, the control parameter for active damping typically needs to be calculated and assigned in advance through the accurate mathematical models. Should the active damping parameter be selected inappropriately, it may lead to a predicament where the system's resonance is inadequately suppressed or the system's normal operation is perturbed. In this paper, a self-adaptive parameter tuning approach for active damping of 3TSMC is proposed, based on the feedforward strategy of the input voltage harmonic components. This approach offers the capability to adaptively tune the active damping parameter to the critical value that ensures system stability, and the interference of the active damping method on the normal operation of 3TSMC can be reduced. Finally, experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
