Solar PV Systems Installed on Solar Blinds and Shutters to cover the DHW needs in the Mediterranean Countries

This paper examines the possibility of using sun blinds as PV modules. A study of the influence of PV blinds on the efficiency of electricity generation, as well as on other factors affecting the efficiency of PV modules for DHW production, was conducted. Main problems considering the energy conversion and storage, quality of electricity supplied to the network and the use of energy during non-working hours (dark period of the day) was analyzed for the systems proposed in this paper. The simulation results of showed that the use of solar shutters as solar batteries in the DHW system is possible and promising. The PVsyst software was used to test the proposed system. The results of the simulation lead to the conclusion about the tangible economic effect of the idea due to the use of solar shutters with solar batteries, because if the building is correctly oriented relative to the cardinal points and there is no shadow from surrounding buildings or trees, the amount of energy converted by the shutters can fully meet the needs in DHW for 3 window apartment.
