A Wearable Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Antenna for GPS L-2 and ISM Applications

A wearable antenna with dual bands and dual polarizations is presented in this paper. The antenna operates at the GPS L2 band of 1.227 GHz with linear polarization (LP) & the ISM band of 2.45 GHz with circular polarization (CP). The suggested antenna includes two substrates: a square-shaped patch on a felt substrate and a circular patch antenna printed on a Taconic TLY-5 substrate as the main radiator. The simulated 10-dB impedance bandwidths are 25.68% (1.12-1.45 GHz) at the lower band (LB) and 11.08% (2.30-2.57 GHz) at the upper band (UB). The upper CP band exhibits a 3-dB Axial Ratio bandwidth of ~ 90 MHz (2.41 to 2.50 GHz). All the simulation has been carried out on Ansys® HFSS software tools.
