Techniques to Ensure Quality of Service in Wireless Body Area Network: A Survey

Wireless Body Area Network is consisted of mobile, miniature, and autonomous sensor nodes (SNs) that can be used to monitor bodily functions for purposes such as medicine, sports, emergency management, and entertaining. Without limiting the patients' regular activities, it helps to monitor the health of patients in long-term with their normal physical states. It enables communication between embedded gadgets and remote surveillance in body sensor networks. It is primarily applied in medical settings. These sensors gather data about the environment and send it. The transmitter receives sensed data and takes the necessary measures in accordance with the state of the human body. WBAN has two main issues which include fault occurrence and energy consumption. Due to fault occurrence in the network quality of service in the network get compromised. In this paper, various techniques which ensure quality of service are reviewed concerning certain metrics like throughput, delay and packet loss.
