Synthesis of a Twist Structure From a Given Multibeam Scattering Diagram

A two-dimensional problem of synthesizing an inhomogeneous anisotropic impedance plane which transforms a set of homogeneous plane waves of linear polarization incident at given angles into a multibeam reflected field of cross polarization is solved. The anisotropic structure is realized by a frequent array of orthogonal reactance stripes adjacent to each other, the orientation of which on the plane can change. Formulas for the reflection coefficients of such a structure are given. The reactance distribution laws and their orientation are obtained in an explicit form in the physical optics approximation. It is shown that for the best possible reflection of the required number of beams in given directions, the total amplitude distribution of the incident field should be the same as the amplitude distribution of a given multibeam reflected wave. To check the accuracy of the obtained formulas, the problem of analysis is solved rigorously by the method of integral equations. The results of numerical calculations are presented.
