Electromagnetic Design Aspects of a Dynamic Inductive Power Transfer System Made of Precast Concrete Elements

In this article, the development of a dynamic inductive power transfer (DIPT) system for electric vehicles (EV) on highways in concrete construction is presented. The complete design process is outlined. For this purpose, first general requirements from all domains, which are involved, are collected. Dependencies are identified and boundary conditions and constraints are considered to reduce the number of system degrees of freedom. The focus lies on the construction and electromagnetic design of the roadside precasted concrete element and the electromagnetic coupling with the vehicle-side pick-up module.
