A Multi-Frequency Model for Buck Converter

In order to analyze the high-frequency behaviors of the peak current mode (PCM) Buck converter, a new multi-frequency model is proposed. The multi-frequency model can effectively analyze the sideband effect generated by the nonlinear PWM comparator. It can more accurately reflect the high frequency characteristics of the system. Through the derivation and validation of the new model, the multi-frequency model can match simulation model that exceeds half the switching frequency. The frequency characteristics of PCM Buck converter can be well understood, especially in the high frequency region.
