2-Bit Optical Decoder Based on 4x4 Multi-Mode Interferometer Coupler for BPSK-Modulated Signals

A compact 2-bit optical decoder consisting of a 4 × 4 multi-mode interferometer coupler with silicon waveguide is presented. The numerical results show that the device activates one of four outputs ports depending on the bit combinations of two BPSK signals.
