Deployment Scenarios of 5G Networks in Military Communication and Information Systems in the Slovak Armed Forces

Digital communication is primary communication method of the modern armies with aim to ensure uninterupted command and control. In this role, 5G networks offer much-needed flexible core network composed from segments with the possibility of implementing individual services. Many countries around the world are dealing with the use of the civil architecture of 5G networks for military purposes in order to define the potential for speeding up and improving the quality of transmitted information necessary for the decision-making process of commanders at each level of command and control. This document presents possible solutions of the implementation of the 5G networks for use in the Slovak Armed Forces in national and international crisis management. The proposals are based on the analyzes of the NCI Agency, current and past conflicts in Europe, Asia and Afrika, and the experience of dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic on the territory of Slovak Republic.
