Design and Implementation of a Piezoelectric-Based Energy Harvesting in Shoes

Energy harvesting is a method that captures energy from the environment and converts it into electrical energy. Piezoelectric energy harvesters employ external forces on piezoelectric elements to generate power. The Piezoelectric-Based Energy Harvesting system is employed to measure the power output of the piezoelectric device. This system utilizes a Wemos D1 Mini microcontroller with an integrated ESP8266 Wi-Fi module to transmit sensor data to a ubidots database. The INA219 sensors are used to measure the voltage, current, and power output of the piezoelectric device. It measures the energy harvesting performance in different conditions: walking, jogging, and running with two configuration rectifier capacitor and LTC3588. The results demonstrate that the running condition produces the highest power output. with of 2.71 mW for body weight 55 in rectifier capacitor configuration and 1,30 mW for a body weight of 55 kg in LTC3588 configuration. Furthermore, when the testing with same step, the running condition used rectifier capacitor configuration exhibits the highest output, measuring 2,73 mW for a weight of 55 kg and 1,83 mW for a weight of 55 kg in LTC3588 configuration. The output is influenced by the applied pressure on the piezoelectric device and the user's weight. These findings indicate that the output of the piezoelectric device is influenced by the applied pressure and the user's weight.
