Performance Assessment of a Grid-Connected Solar PV System in North-Eastern India, Manipur

In this work, studied the performance assessment of a 5kW grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) system which is installed at Imphal, Manipur, India. The experimental data was recorded from 1$^{st}$ May 2022 to 30$^{th}$ April 2023 based on real time observation. This research aims to encourage the use of solar PV systems in government and residential buildings in Manipur, India, based on the findings. In the research, performance evaluations of several aspects, including as energy output, final yield, system efficiency, performance ratio (PR), and others, are included. The proposed system provided an average monthly energy supply of 451.39 kWh to the grid during this period. It is found that the performance ratio is 63.17 % which is quite comparable with other system installed at different locations. Additionally, it is obtained that the capture loss (CL), system loss (SL), system efficiency (Sys$_{eff}$) and capacity factor (CF) are 1.5 kWh$/ \mathrm{m}^{2} /$day, 0.15 kWh$/ \mathrm{m}^{2} /$day, 11.08 % and 12.30 % respectively. To study the practicability of the solar PV technology at the site, we compared the observed performance to simulation results generated by the PVsyst software. It is obtained that the suggested system's achieved performance results are in good agreement with other systems situated in various locations.
