Grasshopper Tuned PID Controller in Three Area System

In power systems, the control of the frequency and voltage is critical to maintain the power balance and ensure stable operation. The Grasshopper Tuned PID Controller is a robust and effective control technique that has been applied in various power systems. This paper proposes the implementation of the Grasshopper Tuned PID Controller in a three-area power system to improve the system’s performance in terms of frequency and voltage control. The simulation is carried out in MATLAB, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach in regulating the system’s frequency and voltage in response to different disturbances. The proposed controller’s performance is compared to the conventional PID controller, and it is shown that the Grasshopper Tuned PID Controller outperforms the conventional controller in terms of settling time and overshoot. The study also analyzes the effect of various parameters of the Grasshopper Tuned PID Controller, such as the inertia constant and gain parameters, on the system’s performance. The results demonstrate that the Grasshopper Tuned PID Controller can effectively regulate the system’s frequency and voltage, and it can be a viable option for improving the performance of power systems. Overall, this paper provides valuable insights into the application of the Grasshopper Tuned PID Controller in power systems and highlights its potential benefits for future power system control applications.
