Demand Response Control of Aggregated HVACs for Providing Peak-Shaving Services Considering Diversified User Requirements

The burgeoning information and communication technologies have made more and more flexible loads, especially heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) loads, assist in system balance between supply and demand. However, parasitic power requirements of users during demand response are diversified, which makes it hard to achieve the stable control of aggregated HAVCs, and the power system safety faces serious threat. This paper takes heat pumps for example and analyzes the demand response characteristics of both individual heat pump and aggregation model of heat pumps. Moreover, a novel control strategy for eliminating the parasitic power instability is proposed. Numerical studies illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
