Study of Coaxial Magnetron for X-Band Linear Accelerator

In this article, PIC simulation study of an X- band coaxial magnetron use for Linear Accelerator (LINAC) has been performed. The 40-vane anode resonator along with high quality factor coaxial cavity is designed to operate the device at 9.3 GHz frequency. Further, the generated RF power is couple out to the standard WR112 waveguide through a slot at the outer surface of the coaxial cavity. With the typically selected electrical parameter of 36 kV of voltage, 96 A of current and 0.5625 T of magnetic field, the device generates 2 MW peak power with overall device efficiency of ~57.8%.
