The use of Microprocessor Devices for Automatic Control of the Excitation of Factory Generators

One of the main trends in modern energy today is an increase in the number of small-scale industrial facilities. This complicates the possible modes of operation of the power supply system. The operation of heterogeneous sources is carried out jointly with a power system of greater power, which determines their weak influence on the voltage level at the connection point. It is possible that the power plant will switch to an island mode of operation with a load. At the same time, the requirements for excitation systems become much more complicated. In particular, the presence of stabilization channels requires additional complex calculations that make it possible to indirectly determine the mode parameters necessary for operation in accordance with the selected excitation control law. When using group control of excitation of synchronous generators, it becomes necessary to process and store a large amount of data. Parallel operation of factory generators with a high power system also significantly complicates the laws of excitation control. The article deals with cases of implementation of automatic excitation control, requiring the use of additional microprocessor devices or controllers. A law of excitation control has been developed, adapted to the conditions of factory power supply when working together with the power system. A system has been developed for automatic control of excitation of a factory generator for normal operation, which requires the use of microprocessor devices. The necessity of using microprocessor means is substantiated by the example of the developed principle of excitation control in normal operation.
