Influence of Interdependence of Power Sources in Emergency Modes on Industrial Consumers Power Supply Reliability

Short-term power supply disruptions in the external industrial consumers' power supply networks are associated with significant damage caused by complex and continuous technological processes shutdowns. Those can be minimized if the design stage features a developed and implemented efficient emergency measures for the external and internal power supply systems. The interdependence of power sources in the emergency modes significantly impacts the power supply reliability of industrial consumers. The article discusses ways to minimize the interdependence of power sources, as well as the features of selecting the type and characteristics of excitation systems and automatic excitation control devices (AEC) of generating plants (GP) at distributed generation (DG) facilities when they function as part of the internal power supply systems of industrial consumers.
