Application of the Direct Power Control in a Three-Phase Shunt Active Power Filter System

This article introduces a novel control approach called “Direct Power Control” designed for shunt active power filters. The method aims to mitigate harmonics in the supply current and counteract reactive power issues. The primary objective is to restore the active power and the reactive power to the reference values through hysteresis control. The hysteresis controllers outputs, coupled with a switching table, regulate the real-time active and reactive powers by determining the optimal switching configuration of the inverter. The paper includes the theoretical analysis as well as comprehensive system simulations and experimental findings to validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
