Offline Power Management Strategy for Fuel Cell Electric Race Car Sizing Using Bi-Level Optimization Based Methodology

To succeed in combining components sizing and power management strategy optimization problems for a hybrid energy system, it is necessary to use different reduction techniques or simplification methods. This paper focuses on the different ways that have been used to reduce the size and hence the evaluation time of the power management strategy optimization problem. These techniques use optimized linear approximation and power profile length reduction methods. They have been implemented on a complex optimization problem for designing a fuel cell race car. Compared to full optimization problem solution, obtained results are satisfying and are used to perform parametric sensitivity analysis.
