In-Vitro Localized Entrapment and Targeted Delivery of Magnetically Loaded Anticancerous Drug on Magnetic Lab-on-a-chip

Cancer is a fatal illness that has often affected people and has become quite common recently. Traditional treatments for this illness are often harsh on patients and have several drawbacks, prompting the development of new cancer detection and management methods. Using magnetic nanoparticles has significantly impacted this in recent years. Introducing the unique characteristics of such nanoparticles and how they are designed to load and deliver medications to the cancerous cell is one of the goals of the current investigation. In this study, iron oxide nanoparticles (IONs) with $\sim 65$ nm size are coated with 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). Furthermore, the nanoparticle is loaded with curcumin (Crm) and tested as an anticancer drug delivery system in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. As a proof-of-concept experiment, we introduced the particle in a magnetic-microfluidic device to analyze the transport and localization of trapped magnetically loaded drug at various sites.
