These systems monitor sensors, traffic, and applications and alert in case of security incidents, malfunctions, or outages. This research presents an overview of the different fields where centralized monitoring systems could be used and the threats of cybersecurity attacks to them. Utilizing large groups of devices and sensors can lead to the compromise of some of them. Therefore, new methodologies and technologies must be developed to meet the requirements regarding security, reliability, and privacy of personal data. This paper will also briefly explore the different types of physical security systems used in buildings, their integration, and centralized monitoring.
