A Study on Frequency Diversity Technology for Evaporation Duct Communication

In order to improve the communication quality in evaporation duct, we propose a frequency diversity communication system to combat the channel fading effect. Because the electromagnetic fields’ spatial distribution is frequency dependent in evaporation duct. The path loss of radio waves with different frequencies shows the different spatial distribution of deep fading areas. In this paper, frequency diversity technology is used to improve the communication capacity when evaporation duct channel is in deep fading. The simulation results show that the 10% interrupt capacity of the 9GHz single-frequency system is only about 0.006Mbps at a distance of 100km and a height of 18.3m. In the 9GHz-7GHz dual-frequency diversity system, a 10% interrupt capacity can be increased to 3.46Mbps, and the communication effect has been significantly improved. Through the study of frequency diversity technology, we can achieve better communication quality in the evaporative duct.
